There is this moment at the end of the day when the work is done
When the tasks are complete
When the words are all spoken
When the time to refresh has begun
The fan is whispering a delicate dance
The blankets are turned back
Inviting romance
It is not just the physicial act of desire
Much more than this
Does my heart require
It is the final intentional
act of greeting
when our bodies in marriage
are first meeting
remembering the emotion of how we began
tendering the rowing of waters rough hands
It is the breath that is taken followed by sigh
That we are one another's
Union defined
A denial in distance or time can't replace
the charge of the Lover
in your eyes in the late
Holding and being held
By the beauty of two as one
Glistens the moon and fires the sun
My lover my friend
Now you are home
And I am beside you
And all is well with my soul
The light on our faces
The love in eyes
There is no replacement for a soul mates
Good night

Let's make a book Trish...you do the poems, I'll do the portraits...
I'm loving it!!
That is really beautiful. You have a gift, Trish. Really and truly. You should publish a book with all your poems.
P.S. I think I'll needle-point this one on a pillow...a pillow that goes on my bed...hehe.
beautiful. I was reading SofS after the great poetic night at Erica's and thinking how totally off base it is now. I love modern readings and this one is perfect.
Thanks guys. At first I felt like a true dork being so mushy about my man, then I realized that the world is full of love stories, why can't I share my love story too. Not like it was brwn paper bag material or anything. ha!
Beautiful. Glad you're back.
That is wonderful. I think sometimes the reason young people so often abandon Christianity for "sensual pleasures" is because the church squashes it. I think it is important to explain the place for romance and intimacy. Your poem is a beautiful example of that.
Man...so like, all of your november is gone...?
That was beautiful Trish, I hope me and Paul have that kind of intimacy of relationship someday--it takes time I guess.
Love you
Leah
